In Distant Lands

The transient and rootless nature of international teaching is certainly not for everyone. However, for the "viajeros" – or wanderers/wonderers - amongst us, it’s an exciting lifestyle filled with many opportunities: It’s a chance to see the gamut of human expression and interaction, and to travel to different terrains, both geographical and socio-cultural. This blog will contain some of my pics, musings, observations, rants and raves from some of my experiences in "distant" lands.

Yeah, so, um… I’m a teacher at the American International School of Johannesburg. I started this blog as a homework assignment for a professional development course I was taking on information technology. Then, I got credit for the course and the blog’s function and direction entered limbo. Then, I joined a photography club here in Jo’burg just to inject something resembling art and creativity in my life. So, now the blog’s kind of the place where I’ll be keeping my photos for the camera club. Most of it’s for me and my camera club but if anyone out in cyberspace happens to stumble upon it and enjoy any of the photos, all the better! ............. Oh, and… A word of thanks to my husband, Mike Martin, who tolerates me spending "alone time" with my hobby. And also a word of thanks to my ex-partner, John Menzo, who opened up many worlds for me, including travel and photography.
